🍫 Viral 1-Min Chocolate Lava Mug Cake 🍫
Ingredients:
4 tbsp flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp milk
2 tbsp melted butter (or oil)
1 tbsp chocolate chips (or a piece of chocolate)
Steps:
1. Mix everything in a mug until smooth.
2. Push the chocolate piece into the center.
3. Microwave 1 minute.
4. Cut open — oozing chocolate lava! 🤤
** NOTE **
This super quick mug cake recipe doesn’t require baking powder or baking soda.
Here’s why:
The cake relies on microwave steam and the eggless batter’s moisture to puff slightly.
Since it’s cooked in a single-serving mug for only ~1 minute, it doesn’t need strong leavening; the texture is soft and slightly dense, which actually helps it hold the molten chocolate center.
Adding baking powder or soda can sometimes make it rise too much or even overflow in a mug.
If you want a fluffier, slightly more “cake-like” texture, you can add:
¼ tsp baking powder — it will puff a bit more.
Baking soda is usually paired with something acidic (like yogurt), so it’s optional.
