Army (Base) Stew is a popular dish to clear out whatever you have in your fridge so you can have a clean start going forward. Savory leftovers like sausages, cheese pieces and tofu gest combined with veggies about to go bad. Made harmonious by a humble pack of ramen.
Traditionally, a can of SPAM and American Singles cheese product (yes, it’s not a real cheese) are used but those are so unhealthy, I don’t feel comfortable putting them in my body.
So I substituted with something marginally healthier: Italian sausage precooked to reduce fat and a real cheese. At least I feel more reassured and that’s all that matters.
Nonetheless, Army Stew doesn’t have a recipe, rather it is a practical technique. Cook everything first, and then add the ramen noodles and cheese before serving.
So when you feel like your fridge is full of things you don’t want. Make this so you can be peaceful and full again for the challenge ahead.
See you soon. Rubineous.
